Futurology (Interview)

We here at Scotland Standup have a very special interview this week with Futurology, a group of Glasgow based artists that have been steadily climbing the ranks of the Scottish Hip-Hop world.
They have been kind enough to fill us in not only with a little information about them, but also provide us with there views on Hip-Hop in Scotland, a little but of information on there new EP "The Cube", up coming performances and much much more!!

What is your name?
Futurology aka Dr.Mindbender, Johnny Cypher & The Replicator

How old are you?
We're all 21

Where are you from?

How long have you been making music?
We've been rapping for just under a year, been making music for a bit longer

How many songs /albums have you released to date?
1 group album under a different name, and 2 solo albums from Johnny Cypher & The Replicator, and we've just released a new group ep today, it's available here; http://futurology.bandcamp.com/

Can you tell us about your new project and the background and inspirations behind it?
Our new project is a group ep called "The Cube" which is due for release on the 1st of July, with a launch night in audio to coincide with the release, we've got sets from us, Deadsoundz, Erin Friel and Louie Bhoy. Check the event page for more details; http://on.fb.me/1bXp4uO

How have you ended up in the music industry?
We haven't, funnily enough...

Both, yolo

What do you think of the music industry at the moment?
Like any other antiquated industry, it's becoming more & more redundant as time passes...

Who inspires you when you make your music?
Akala and most other MC's that double as brilliant social commentators,
aswell as those from the local scene, Loki, Louie & Mog particularly.

Tell me a joke?
Two hats on a shelf.
One says, "You stay here, I'll go on ahead".

If you were one of the Seven Dwarves, which one would you be?
Dr.Mindbender would be Doc, Cypher would be Sleepy and Replicator would be Bashful.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your Career?
Replicator has collaborated with Shadoh but that's about it, but they're are plenty of plans for collaborations very soon.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Rowena Miller, Damien Marley, Akala, Mog etc.

What was the first album u bought?
Whatever it was it probably wasn't that good.

What was your first illegal download?

Whats your favorite song at the moment?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully still alive and making music

How do you feel about Scottish Hip Hop at the moment?
It's got a lot of potential, it's in a healthy state and the future looks bright. Above all, we're just excited to be a part of it!

"Futurology" how did you come about?
We used to be stoners, then we started rapping... now we're stoners that rap.

What did you do before you became a crew?
We sat about smoking weed and talking about the same things we now rap about haha.

Whats your views on Battle Rap?
None of us battle, but it's very entertaining and definitely a good platform for artists to get their name out there.

Who you rate in Scotland at the moment as Recording Artists?
We'd say Loki, Louie, Mog, Kayce, deadsoundz, Stanley Odd, Silvertongue, Mistah Bohze, this list could go on for days but we'll leave it there... for noo

What about Battler's?
Soul's done pretty well for himself, Louie remains unbeaten if i remember correctly, Gasp, Respek Ba obviously, also Wee D and Kayce one are pretty good.
