Tyme Lord (Interview)
This time around we got talking to Tyme Lord an up and coming rapper from the Livingston area, he has given us an incite to his views on the Scottish Hip-hop scene and how Scottish hip-hop is received in Livingston along with information on his up coming album "Boldly Going No Where".
How long have you been making music?
AGESSSS . Used to be behind a drum kit playing in shitty bands and such. All in all Id say around decade
How many songs /albums have you released to date?
I've done countless tunes and released a mingin’ E.P a while ago, I’m the first to admit my work ethic is not amazing but a new album is on the way.
Can you tell us about your new project and the background and inspirations behind it?
Indeed, I’m working on my album “Boldly Going No Where” Produced by Kayce one and fellow NL companion Crink. I don’t really know what to say about it, other than it makes my previous work look like SHITE. I wanted a fresh start and this seemed the best way to do it. I'm easily inspired so it’s not been too hard writing it.
There will also be a Narcissistic Literature EP from myself and Crink.
How have you ended up in the music industry?
When I first listened to Scottish hip hop I fell in love with it and writing songs was so boring I basically stopped. Now after 3 years doing hip hop, I've always got my head in my phone writing bars and I still feel pure excited to get even a tune done, let alone playing shows and meeting some stupidly talented people.
What do you think of the music industry at the moment?
I think it’s getting there. I don’t want to pretend I know all there is to know about the scene because where I live people are generally retarded and either scoff at the idea as opposed to Edinburgh and Glasgow where people have heard Scottish hip hop and have came round to it over time. Livingston has few artists which pretty much says a lot about the “fan base“ here but It’s not all negative. Rather than individually promoting out music, we all share the same idea and that is to put our shite hole on the map.
Basically there are still minks out there that listen to the accent instead of listening what’s being said. Aside from that it’s on a steady increase.
Who inspires you when you make your music?
Many a cunt. Mostly other Scottish artists to be honest. Gives you a feeling of “I can dae thaaaat”. Specifically; Silver, Kayce, Hector Bizerk, Werd, Illaz etc. Bit of dub step never hurt…Oh! Tubular bells ( if your stoned and bored of your music, listen to tubular bells)
If you were one of the Seven Dwarves, which one would you be?
Preferably none, they all look like Peter Tobin. Ehhh..Whatever one snow white was most attracted to?
Who have you collaborated with so far in your Career?
Some… cant remember them all but at the top of my head, Speech Syndicate, Elmi, Nity gritz, Crink, Loaded, etc etc etc..
Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Everyone and anyone that’s up for it most of the time, other than wee bams. I’d love to work work with pretty much everyone on Paraletic Universe, any of them..they're all dope. Ed scissortongue, Jarren Benton, watsky, jam baxter, Leaf dog, hector bizerk,
What was the first album u bought?
Im pretty sure it was an offspring album, cant remember.
Whats your favorite song at the moment?
Ed scissortongue - Wastewater
If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your drawer?
My Werd and Deeko album, probably because I have like 5 copies of it and they’re the only c.d’s kicking about my house. That and the vagabonds EP hahahaha!
What do you think of TV music talent show competitions?
I think they’re fucking mingin’ and they can get to fuck cause im sick of the sight of em’!
What do you do when your not making music?
Smoke weed when I caaaaaan, drink, perty and talk a lot of shit
How many hats do you own?
7 or 8
Whats your favorite takeaway?
Mirchi Masala in Livi, Mamma mia burger. Gives me the munchies thinkin’ about it, dayyyumm!
What's your favourite Swear word?
Cunt. Tis the white mans ‘n’ word
How many followers do you have on twitter?
How do you feel about Scottish Hip Hop at the moment?
