Lex Lethal (Interview)

We are back yet again, this time we have a sit done with Lex Lethal another member of the group Cerberus.

How long have you been making music?
I've been writing music of several different genres since I was 13. From age 15 till quite recently,
I was lead guitarist and vocalist in a metal band who's music was predominantly written by me.

How many songs /albums have you released to date?
No albums yet, but with my band wraith, we have released 5 songs, and then lost access to recording facilities, and couldn't get the album finished. As Lex Lethal, I have released 3 in an american accent, and in the last 3 months, 2 in my own accent. Taking it more seriously now, you know?

Can you tell us about your new project and the background and inspirations behind it?
At the moment, me and my brothers in Cerberus are working towards our first E.P. as a group, though each of us are working on our own respective solo E.P.s. Mine is called "Spittin' Flames" and its basically a tour de force of multi syllabic, machine gun bars and lyrical "fire". (Not my words by the way.) Hence the title. The inspiration is the industry, and to be honest, I also wanted an excuse to put a photo of myself breathing fire on the cover. Haha.

How have you ended up in the music industry?
I think i was born for it. I've been performing on stage and singing my whole life, and I've not just been writing, but feeling music since I was a teenager.

What do you think of the music industry at the moment?
To be honest, I can answer that with 3 words. Justin Fucking Bieber. And we have seen it before. heres the same three words in a different haircut, Arron Fucking Carter, or better yet, Jesse Fucking McCartney. The standard of quality has dropped drastically in modern music, and alot of what is popular right now requires next to no talent, and was written by someone else. But I do have hope, as Hip-Hop is on the rise again. And I have a hell of alot of hope for the Scottish scene.

Who inspires you when you make your music?
Mother Nature and Mankind (not the wrestler, though he is awesome). I take my inspiration from what I see, hear, feel, think or dream. Everyone and everything inspires me to make music. I'll tell you who inspires me to keep fighting though, My nephew Aaron McAleese. He's 6, was born with a severe heart condition and went through hell waiting for a heart transplant. He nearly didn't get one in time, and it scared the hell out of our whole family. But He took it with a smile. If he can do that, I can take anything this planet throws at me.

If you were one of the Seven Dwarves, which one would you be?
None of them. I'm not tall enough. I'm more like Papa smurf, or one of the borrowers.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your Career?
So far, I've only collaborated with my brothers, and my mates Stretch Fenty and Leo Mayweather. But I intend to change that very soon.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
I'd like to collab with SubKoncious from DeadsoundZ, And Madhat McGore, which is good, because it's already being discussed. But I would also like to work with the rest of DeadsoundZ, Werd, MOG, Lo Key, Loki, Loaded, GardFeez, Wee D, Nity Gritz, and a few of America's top names, but a man can dream can't he? I'm also looking forward to my twin brother and my sister laying verses down with me. That'll make one hell of a show.

What was the first album u bought?
The first one I owned was Eminem's Marshall Mathers L.P., but the first one I bought with my own cash, was Slipknot's Volume 3 (the subliminal verses)
Whats your favorite song at the moment?
MOG- Fight Clean. Having lived in one of Glasgow's outer city "ghettos" for want of a better word, I get every single word of it.

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your drawer?
Travis Barker's Give A Drummer Some. It's the only way I could get the right mix of rock and rap my brain needs to not turn over in fits and start making me want to chop shit up.

What do you think of TV music talent show competitions?
I've been on the X factor. Back in 2008. It's nonsense. I was told I had "A great voice" but I didn't "fit the physical profile set by the producers of the show". It's not about talent, it's about what can make simon cowell money. notice that his name does not have capitals.
What do you do when your not making music?
I spend time with my beautiful fiance, and our Staffy, Kira, who is about to have pups any day now. Either that or training my nephews in self defense and sword fighting, or training myself.

How many hats do you own?
Four hats, four bandannas.

Whats your favorite takeaway?
Meal? Sausage supper with Salt, vinegar and brown sauce, or chips, cheese and donner meat with garlic sauce. Shop? Il Vicolo in Friars Street, Stirling. You want food? Leave it to the Italians.

What's your favourite Swear word?
Cunt. It's the most abrasive. Plus I love it.

How many followers do you have on twitter?

How do you feel about Scottish Hip Hop at the moment?
I am ecstatic about it. I couldn't be more pleased that people in this county finally have a voice. And fuck anyone who disses it. In the words of MOG "wae so many stabbings, how can you diss any Scottish cat for rapping." We had a drive by in Edinburgh last week. People think Scotland is all kilts and Irn Bru, seeing see you jimmy screaming "Och aye the noo". They don't realise the level of insanity in this country. I challenge any american who can drive by and pull a trigger, to run at six guys with blades, holding nothing but a pool cue in his hand, and no one at his back but a wall.
Anything else you would like to add?
