Kayce One (Interview)

What is your name? David MacWilliam Aka BIGKAYCEWAN Aka Spaceman Spliff

How old are you? 22 and counting

Where are you from? GLASGOW SOUTHSIDE REPRESENT

How long have you been making music? I've been writing music for about 3 years I'd say

How many songs /albums have you released to date? One Album + too many battles

Can you tell us about your new project and the background and inspirations behind it? Toni and I have been working away on our second album titled "100th Monkey".
The "100th Monkey Effect" is an idea that suggests if a small group maintains the same thought/ behaviour it will eventually transend to a larger population.  Basically meaning the minority spreading an idea or ability will eventually reach the majority and through an unknowing process, enlighten the masses. Toni and I thought this could be mirrored in our very own "Scottish Hip Hop scene" to the basis that if the public hear/ see enough of us making music then they will eventually have no choice but to accept and jump on the metephorical bandwagon. Plus monkeys are cool.

How have you ended up in the music industry? I crash landed here after seeing so many positive and skilled artists throughout my city.  I have always been an avid Hip Hop fan and the pieces just fell into place.

Beans or Peas? Peas. Nwhit?

What do you think of the music industry at the moment? A billboard mess to ensure that almighty "Sell Out".  All about the money, not about the music

Who inspires you when you make your music? I could list off a number of MCs from across the world that I can relate to when they write but the truth is we are inspired by enviroment and circumstance. To base your inspirations on what some one else says in theyre songs is relativly counterproductive and defeats the purpose in my eyes

Tell me a joke?

Yo mama is so fat when she wants her photo taken she has to call Google Earth.

If you were one of the Seven Dwarves, which one would you be? Dopey.
1) beacause of my general idiocy 2) Dopey is the only dwarf that cant grow a beard.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your Career? I dont have a huge amount of artists that I have collabed with thus far, just a few people who I get on with artistically. That being the likes of Shadow People members as well as Zayn, Loki, Gup, Werd and of course Becca Starr
Who would you like to collaborate with in the future? Snoop Lion keeps ignoring my calls

What was the first album u bought? HIP HOP HISTORY 3 DISK SET... I never looked back

What was your first illegal download? Charlie's Anals or Gangbangs of New York. Cant remember

Whats your favorite song at the moment? Asap Rocky- Goldie. Because I'm a bit of a Gangster like that

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your drawer? Mos Def- Black on Both Sides

What do you think of TV music talent show competitions? I tend to agree with what the majority of the public say regarding shows like these.  Its money over talent everday.  Hand picking singers that fit the "pop star" bill with the added bonus of a sob story at the start.  Dont get me wrong, I love the audition.

What do you do when your not making music? Most likely working...

Whats your favorite Fashion brand? CAPPA

Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
I have a full scale back tatoo of Scuba Steves face.

How many pairs of trainers do you own? 4 extemely manky pairs of trainers

How many hats do you own? 3... Its the magic number

Whats your favorite takeaway? After much deliberation, Im going with Chinese

What's your favourite Swear word?
CUNTO

How many followers do you have on twitter? Zero.  Twitter confuses me

In a few words sum up your thoughts about Scotland Standup? Scotland Stand up is a very encouraging medium for Scottish Hip Hop.  It gives lesser heard MCs a voice through interviews and promotion.  The first full Scottish Hip Hop Cd I ever heard was a Scotland Stand Up Mixtape.  Cheers Scoobz
